Fields of Gold

once upon a time there was a little girl. she was sitting on a pasture surrounded by sunflowers. she had a pretty little straw hat on and the sun was shining and she was smiling and feeling happy as a clam. she ran around the pasture enjoying the wind blowing through her hair while chasing a couple of yellow-colored butterflies. She knew she wouldn't be able to catch them, and that was okay because she didn't want to catch them. she just liked chasing them and trying to be as fast and light as they were because she wanted to know what it felt like to be a butterfly.
she kept turning back to look at me. she was always smiling at me. her smile was conscious, yet carefree. i could tell she wanted to shake hands with me, make me her friend, but she didn't. the butterflies kept distracting her. i wanted to go and shake her hand, and make her my friend. but something stopped me. i couldn't move. even if i tried. i was stuck, and my legs felt like they were made of lead. i wanted to smile but i couldn't. as if i didn't know how. the little girl kept moving away from me, chasing the pretty little yellow-colored butterflies. she didn't turn to look at me now.
